Zerzilov abruptly felt unwell during his court hearing in Moscow and has since been flown to Berlin for medical treatment where he is now reportedly expected to recover. Verzilov suffered dramatic symptoms such as inability to walk or talk, disorientation, and loss of vision from anticholinergic syndrome; or disruption of the nervous system that regulate inner organs.

The cause of the anticholinergic syndrome has been declared from a yet unknown toxin. “It is highly probable that he was poisoned,” Dr Kai-Uwe Eckardt of Berlin’s Charité hospital told a conference. He came to this conclusion based on information from family, the Moscow hospital he was initially treated at, and his symptoms. Pussy Riot has drawn much attention on controversy over the years as an anti-Putin group.

Their latest protest came during the Summer world cup where they stormed the field as police officers during the final pitch; Pyotr was among them.
